GEAL S.p.A., now a recognized leader in the design of aluminum window and door systems, aluminum surface treatments, and the extrusion of aluminum alloys, was founded in 1961. Over the years, it has continuously evolved and innovated. Born in the province of Florence from the vision of founder Mario Lenzi and his son Guglielmo, the company has grown from a small family-run business into a complete and reliable partner for both national and international clients.

 

Thanks to deep expertise in production challenges, and with inventiveness and forward thinking, GEAL S.p.A. was the first to introduce patented procedures and machinery for cleaning and brushing aluminum profiles. The gradual addition of oxidation, painting, sublimation, coating, and mechanical processing plants has made the company’s offering increasingly versatile. Combined with a solid distribution network, this makes GEAL S.p.A. the optimal choice for those seeking all-around service and attention.

The Origins of an Industrial Excellence

From a Family Workshop to the Birth of SPAL Brevetti: Innovation and Continuity in Aluminum Processing

1961 / 1981

  • 1961 – The company is founded under the name Osdal di Lenzi Mario & Figli, a small family-run business with nine employees.
  • 1973 – The generational transition takes place: founder Mario Lenzi hands over the business to his three sons—Guglielmo, Enrico, and Alessandro.
  • 1975 – The oxidation plant and process are modernized, transitioning from manual, artisanal work to a modern, semi-automated system.
  • 1975 – SPAL Brevetti is born: a technical division specialized in the study of aluminum surface finishing. A groundbreaking machine is developed, capable of brushing aluminum profiles using water-cooled automatic steel brushes.
  • 1981 – A new complementary activity begins: the trade of aluminum profiles and accessories. The service offering is further expanded with the addition of the first horizontal powder coating plant.

Expansion and Strategic Diversification

From Coating Plants to New Production Facilities: Years of Technological Innovation and Commercial Growth

1983 / 1998

  • 1983 – Continued investment and specialization of our offering lead to the creation of the first vertical powder coating plant.
  • 1989 – TIRRENA ALLUMINIO srl is founded in Ceparana di Bolano (SP), dedicated to the commercial development and distribution of GEAL S.p.A. products across the Liguria and Emilia regions.
  • 1995 – Launch of aluminum coating systems using real wood veneer, paper, or plastic films.
  • 1998 – Opening of the new production facility in Cairo Montenotte, Savona, equipped with vertical and horizontal coating lines and aluminum sublimation systems.
  • 1998 – The “GEALPORTE” division is established, specializing in the production of profiles for aluminum door manufacturing. The “HPQ®” (High Performance Quality) trademark is registered for the pretreatment of coated profiles intended for highly corrosive environments (such as marine settings).

From the Birth of GEALPORTE to Expansion in Northern Italy: Advanced Technology and Targeted Strategies for an Ever-More Complete Offering

2003 / 2018

  • 2003 – The company’s offering is further expanded with the launch of our first aluminum extrusion plant at the Barberino di Mugello (FI) headquarters.
  • 2007 – The vertical coating plant in Barberino di Mugello is completely renovated with a next-generation system that significantly boosts productivity and quality, while greatly improving color change speed.
  • 2009 – With the opening of the warehouse in Sirone, in the province of Lecco, the presence of our products extends further into Northern Italy.
  • 2018 – The production plant in Barberino di Mugello (FI) is consolidated, and the oxidation line is completely renewed. This newly designed, fully automated system ensures higher standards of quality and production efficiency.

  • 2018 – Mechanical processing services are added to the company’s offerings.
  • 2022 – In response to growing market demand, our second extrusion plant is launched. Innovation, Industry 4.0, automation, and sustainability are the core principles of this new facility, which boosts our production capacity by 150%.
  • 2022 – A new assembly line for thermal break aluminum profiles is acquired.
  • 2024 – One of the coating booths in the vertical powder coating plant at Barberino di Mugello is fully renovated.
