The Sustainability of Aluminum Recycling
GEAL S.p.A. Certifications
GEAL S.p.A. stands out for its ongoing commitment to sustainability and environmental protection, as well as the safety of workers and products in the field of aluminum extrusion and processing. This dedication is backed by numerous certifications of excellence for its production processes, including QUALICOAT, QUALICOAT SEASIDE, QUALIDECO, and QUALANOD.
Since 2000, GEAL S.p.A. has been undergoing continuous development by implementing quality management systems (ISO 9001:2015), environmental management systems (ISO 14001:2015), and, since 2020, occupational health and safety management systems (ISO 45001:2018).
These sustainability initiatives go hand in hand with the replacement of liquid fuels with natural gas, decontamination of tanks, and the modernization of the vertical coating system to improve environmental conditions within the workplace.
In 2009, hexavalent chromium was eliminated from the anodizing process in favor of trivalent chromium. In 2010, the asbestos cement roofing was removed and replaced with high-efficiency photovoltaic systems, which now cover a large portion of the company’s energy needs.
The creation of a rainwater recovery system and a treatment plant—subject to rigorous environmental safety controls—further testifies to GEAL S.p.A.’s commitment to environmental protection, contributing to the well-being of future generations.
Thanks to the EPD Certifications of its custom extruded profiles and thermal break aluminum window systems, GEAL S.p.A. demonstrates excellent environmental performance and a strong focus on sustainability.
These certifications cover both profiles made from primary aluminum and those made from recycled aluminum—with the latter containing up to 85% recycled content.
